About Suzanne Lafleur, LCSW
Suzanne LaFleur, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, a program nationally recognized for its academic excellence and clinical training. Suzanne brings a wealth of experience working with individuals across the lifespan and from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
After completing her graduate studies, Suzanne relocated to San Diego, where she began her clinical career at a non-profit organization focused on school-based mental health services. There, she worked primarily in elementary schools throughout East County, delivering early intervention and prevention programs aimed at supporting the emotional and behavioral health of young children.
Her professional background includes extensive work with children, adolescents, and their families within both educational and developmental settings. In addition to her experience with youth, Suzanne has also provided individual counseling to adults facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. Her clinical practice has included working in community-based mental health settings, non-profits, and integrated health environments.
During her graduate training, Suzanne completed internships at a women’s shelter and a community clinic providing individual therapy to uninsured individuals. These experiences deepened her understanding of trauma-informed care and strengthened her commitment to serving vulnerable and underserved populations.
Suzanne’s therapeutic approach is integrative and client-centered, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, inner child work, and motivational interviewing. She is dedicated to creating a safe, compassionate space for healing and personal growth, tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each individual she serves.
