About Samantha Munz, AMFT
“There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.” – John Green
Hello! I’m Samantha (or Sam), an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families to dive deeper into themselves, improve their coping stratgies, and promote mental wellness. I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology from San Diego State University and my Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University.
I am a born and raised San Diegan who is multiethnic and part of the LGBTQIA+ community. As a therapist, I have experience working with children, adolescents, and their families. I began my clinical experience working one-on-one with young children on the autism spectrum, and I completed my graduate practicum at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital, running groups for children and adolescents in the outpatient day program.
I utilize evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, attachment-based, narrative-based, and trauma-focused.
I work with clients on a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, bipolar and mood disorders, autism, ADHD, ODD, stress, trauma, grief, self-esteem, life transitions, LGBTQIA+ issues, spirituality, and relationships.
When I am out of the office, I enjoy spending time with those close to me, enjoying nature, reading, and crafting.
