About Ronnie Williams, AMFT, APCC, SUDCC IV

Welcome.

My name is Ronnie Williams, an associate marriage and family therapist, and associate professional clinical counselor since April 2025. I am here to assist people in becoming whole and in discovering or regaining their inner power to find healing, purpose, and self-actualization.

I have two years of combined experience as both a trainee and an intern for an outpatient treatment program serving military and civilian populations, including adolescents, transitional-age youth, couples, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds. I am LGBTIQ-affirming and have experience working with people who identify as LGBTIQ. I am a certified SUD counselor with more than eleven years’ of experience working in the field of substance addiction treatment across residential, inpatient, outpatient, and DUI programs.

My approach to therapy is empathic, compassionate, person-centered, and strength-based. I provide therapy with a collaborative approach utilizing evidence-based practices including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and relapse prevention planning. These practices help people by calming stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, addictions, interpersonal conflicts, and developing increased harmony and interpersonal effectiveness.

I will support you in discovering your inner strength and developing strategies to achieve your goals in line with your values. When you’re ready, I’ll help guide you toward inner peace and self-empowerment.

I am originally from Los Angeles and moved to San Diego in 1988. I am a US Navy veteran and fell in love with San Diego after being stationed here. My interests and passions include many genres of music, playing guitar, bass, and Panda Drum. I enjoy attending concerts, going outdoors for walks to explore nature, physical exercise, traveling, art, and spending time with family and friends to enjoy good food and conversation.
