About Savannah Kraus, AMFT
As a trauma-trained therapist, I specialize in the treatment of trauma from a developmental and nervous system lens, crafted to meet a client’s unique needs. My name is Savannah Kraus, and I am a multi-cultural, Mexican-American, Marriage and Family Therapist, passionate about healing generational wounds. I invite my clients to explore the many diverse aspects of identity that factor into a person’s mental health, including: race, ethnicity, culture, ancestry, gender, and sexuality.
With integration as a core value of my therapeutic approach, I enjoy blending aspects of somatic therapy, polyvagal theory, Internal Family Systems “parts” work, and Brainspotting.
“Slow is fast, and fast is slow.” Since 2022, I have walked alongside clients in healing from trauma. Patience, curiosity, compassion, autonomy, and intuition are the cornerstone of trauma-focused therapy. Following in the “tail of the comet” and inviting clients to reconnect with the intuitive process of their healing is my passion.
In November 2025, I received my certification in Brainspotting therapy, which is my primary modality for treating trauma. Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting was discovered in 2003 by Dr. David Grand. It evolved from his work with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and other therapeutic techniques. A “Brainspot” is the activity in the subcortical region of the brain in response to focused activation and eye position. A “Brainspot” is seen as an eye position that correlates with a physiological capsule that holds traumatic experience in memory form. Brainspotting actively involves the body in the healing process, categorizing it as a somatic therapy. Known to decrease symptoms of chronic pain and illness, it delves into the physical manifestation of trauma, helping to address the impact that stress and difficult experiences have had on the body and nervous system.
My experience began volunteering as an MFT Intern at the Child Guidance Center in Orange County, working with low-income children and adolescents with moderate to severe mental health issues, gaining experience working with developmental trauma. I have since then continued my experience in trauma treatment, working at Fusion Care Group with individuals struggling with PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, and other mental health adaptations. I have worked in higher level of care facilities (PHP, Residential), specializing in trauma treatment, DBT, and somatic therapy.
