About Dr. Ashley Anderson, Ph.D.

You don’t have to carry everything alone.

I practice a depth psychological approach to therapy, drawing from various methods to meet you where you are. My goal is to connect quickly and genuinely so you feel seen, supported, and safe to explore what’s beneath the surface. I see therapy as a space to rediscover your true self, to understand the patterns that keep you stuck, and to develop new, authentic, and sustainable ways of being. While I lead with empathy and curiosity, my approach also involves challenging and confronting clients in service of their goals and growth. I work with children, teens, adults, and couples around anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger management, addiction, relationship challenges, learning disabilities, and chronic illness. What matters most to me is building a strong therapeutic relationship that helps you feel grounded, hopeful, and supported in your growth.

I listen to how your cultural background, family story, and lived experience shape the challenges and strengths you bring to therapy. My approach includes an integrative Psychodynamic and Jungian psychotherapeutic approach, as well as Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Mindfulness, LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy, and Culturally Sensitive Therapy. I meet each person with respect for their individual journey, combining insight and practical tools to support real change.

Before becoming a therapist, I built a career across hospitality, education, tech, and sales—all experiences that taught me about people, resilience, and the many pressures we all face. I hold a Doctorate and Master’s in Educational Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Human Services Management, with advanced training in depth psychology. My clinical work spans private practice, county mental health, and substance use treatment settings, where I’ve supported individuals, couples, and groups through therapy and assessment. I’m also a certified yoga and meditation instructor active in the San Diego community. Of Swedish and Oglala Lakota heritage, I honor the cultural, spiritual, and ancestral influences that shape our healing journeys.

At the core of my work is connection, the kind that helps you feel more grounded, at peace, and reminded that you’re not alone.
