About Hanna Nguyen, AMFT

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” – Carl Rogers

Hello! I’m Hanna. I have worked in the mental health field for over six years. My experience began when I worked with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. I also have experience supporting individuals with eating disorders in intensive care settings. Since then, I have accumulated nearly 2,000 hours working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families on a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety disorders (e.g., generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, phobias), mood disorders (e.g., major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder), personality disorders (e.g., borderline personality disorder), and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I am especially passionate about working with diverse populations, including the LGBTQIA+ community and racial and ethnic minoritized groups. I strive to understand how sociocultural factors and unique stressors influence mental health and well-being.

I prioritize a client-centered and humanistic approach in therapy because I deeply believe that you are the expert in your own life. My goal is to offer a safe and nonjudgmental environment where you can reflect on your experiences, gain insight into your emotions, and move toward meaningful personal growth. My approach is flexible and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on individualized care based on each person’s unique needs and goals. I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness-based practices. When working with couples, I often integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy watching movies and television shows. I also love expressing my creative side through coloring, scrapbooking, painting, and junk journaling.

I believe the healing power of authentic connection is the foundation for valuable therapeutic work. Every person’s story is unique, incomparable, and meaningful. I hope to be a small part of your journey and a supportive presence in your path toward growth.
