About Alisha McGovern, AMFT

“Balance is the core of health. We feel and function best when our body’s system is in balance, and when we’re in balance with friends, family, community, and nature.” -Dr. Bruce D. Perry

Hi, my name is Alisha McGovern. I obtained a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University. I started my professional training at a residential treatment facility where I worked with a culturally diverse population experiencing various symptoms such as psychosis, anxiety, depression, self-harm, and addiction. I have received training in cognitive processing therapy (CPT), written exposure therapy (WET), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). I embrace a client-centered approach to therapy to meet the needs of clients. I am committed to empowering clients to understand and solve challenges through healthy communication and effective coping strategies.
