Ayan Ibrahim, ACSW

Hello, my name is Ayan, and I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker. My main goal is to create a supportive and safe space where clients can feel empowered to navigate life’s challenging experiences. My main clinical experience has been in a psychiatric and behavioral health hospital setting, which has equipped me with skills in crisis management, conducting assessments, facilitating groups, and providing crucial case management.

I have experience working with individuals diagnosed and struggling with mood disorders, co-occurring disorders, trauma, anxiety, schizophrenia, psychosis, substance use, grief and loss, shame and guilt, etc.

In my time at the hospital, I have utilized several treatment modalities CBT, DBT, ACT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness practices. I’ve been able to work with diverse and vulnerable populations including working with families, teens, adults, older adults, individuals experiencing homelessness, and veterans. I am committed to culturally competent care that recognizes and respects each individual’s unique background.

I hold a Bachelors in Social Work from San Diego State University and a Masters also in Social Work from Capella University. I was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and I spent the majority of my life growing up in San Diego, which I’ve come to call home. My nationality is Somali. In my free time, I enjoy being in nature, spending quality time with friends and family, watching one of my favorite TV shows, Shark Tank, and learning about baking!
