About Christine Vargas, AMFT
Hello, my name is Christine Vargas and I am a bilingual Latina therapist who aims to create a safe space that helps people move towards hope and acceptance. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from SDSU with a minor in Counseling and Social Change, and my master’s in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I plan to help incite growth, insight, self-compassion, self-reflection, acceptance, and empowerment.
My sessions are driven with a Humanistic, Person-centered, and cognitive-behavioral approach. My specialties are working with children, adolescents, and adults with ADHD, Depression, Trauma, Postpartum, Anxiety, Immigration, LGBTQ+, and Adjustment issues. I have also worked with people with ASD, addiction, personality, self-esteem, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and others. I have worked with children, adults, couples, and families, and am LGBTQ+ friendly. I am certified in Motivational Interviewing, QPR, Safezones, and Trauma-focused Cognitive-behavioral therapy. I have specialized training in perinatal mood disorders, behavioral health interpretation, rapid trauma processing, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and The Brave Project.
I lead sessions with creativity and optimism. Helping others navigate their challenges and achieve their goals with insight they can carry with them for years to come is of utmost importance to me. Gardening, crafting, reading, and hanging out with my dog are some of my favorite things. My greatest passion is to help people feel seen, supported, and empowered.
