About Diana May, AMFT

Do you struggle in relationships or have difficulty dealing with emotions? You’re not alone. Therapy can be the first step in finding insight and making a positive change. My name is Diana May and I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. I have a graduate degree from National University in Counseling Psychology and I specialize in counseling individuals, teens, and couples uncover the benefits of therapy.

I am an African American therapist with experience helping people dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma and mood disorders to name a few, explore their thoughts, feelings and worries without judgment. Additionally, I guide clients in rediscovering their self-esteem/self-confidence and examine episodes of self-doubt so they may gain insight and prepare for problems that may arise in the future. Through talk therapy and interventions, clients are challenged in healthy ways to promote growth, receive nonjudgmental and unbiased feedback and are respected in their differences.

I utilize an integrative approach, drawing from Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to help clients gain insight, build resilience, and foster meaningful change.

I began my career as a Behavioral Intern at a homeless shelter working with various individuals battling substance misuse, domestic violence, family problems, relationship issues, episodes of psychosis, etc. I have over five years of experience working with clients with various backgrounds. I offer a non-judgmental and culturally affirming space, welcoming people of all backgrounds, including BIPOC communities and LGBTQIA+ communities. Through talk therapy and applicable interventions, clients receive nonjudgmental and unbiased feedback and are respected in their differences. I offer clients a session that is all about them!—A place anyone can be their unfiltered self! I encourage clients to reach out and explore the benefits of therapy designed to fit you.
