About Joselle Benitez-Herget, LMFT

Hello, my name is Joselle Benitez-Herget and I’m a Filipina-American Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Expressive Arts Therapist. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Nevada in Reno, NV. I later obtained my Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Expressive Arts Therapy at John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley, CA.

During my career, I’ve provided mental health services to diverse populations in Northern Nevada and California. I have experience working with children, adults, families and couples struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, relational issues and perinatal mental health. I’ve worked in a multitude of settings including in the home, school, clinic, summer camp, hospital and within the community.

In my work with clients, I call upon my experience as a dancer and musician to bring creativity, curiosity, and adaptability into the therapeutic space. In addition to my expressive arts therapy training, I utilize a variety of therapeutic interventions and techniques. I describe my approach as holistic, collaborative, strength-based, culturally responsive and person centered.

When not at the office you’ll find me exploring in nature, cooking Filipino food, and dancing with or without music. I especially love spending time with my husband, kiddos, and our feisty terrier pup named Ellie.
