About Lisa Niino, LMFT
Hello, my name is Lisa Niino and it’s great to meet you! I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 18 years of experience in the behavioral health field. At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to creating safe, supportive, and empowering spaces for individuals and families navigating life’s challenges. Since childhood, I’ve been captivated by stories—how they shape us, connect us, and help us make sense of the world. That love of storytelling naturally led me to a narrative approach to therapy, one grounded in authenticity, curiosity, and the belief that we are so much more than the problems we face.
After earning my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UCLA in 2002 and my master’s in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in 2005, I began my journey working with adults facing complex mental health challenges, including trauma, substance use, homelessness, and relational distress. Over time, my path expanded to include working with children, teens, and families in clinics, homes, and schools in support of young people impacted by anxiety, depression, grief, behavioral struggles, and more.
I hold certifications in Functional Family Therapy (FFT) and the Structured Interview for Psychosis-Risk Syndromes (SIPS), and I’ve received extensive training in the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P). My approach is strengths-based and informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Trauma-Informed Care.
Above all, I believe in meeting people where they are—with compassion, empathy, and hope. Whether you’re feeling stuck, or simply in need of someone to hold space for you when life feels overwhelming, I’m here to help you reconnect with what matters to you and re-author your story toward resilience and wellness. I’m so glad you’re here, and look forward to the opportunity to walk alongside you in your journey.
