About Purvi Bhakta, LPCC

Hi, I’m Purvi Bhakta, a South Asian therapist with 3 years of experience and a specialization in trauma and trauma-related concerns. I have worked with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds across a range of clinical settings. I began my clinical work at a community college, working with students navigating life transitions, daily stressors, and mood challenges. I later worked at an Urgent Walk-In Clinic, providing care to adults experiencing acute mental health crises, including suicidal ideation and severe mental illness.

Most recently, I provided trauma-focused care in an Outpatient Therapy Clinic specializing in PTSD treatment for active duty military, veterans, and first responders. During this time, I supported clients with trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, and self-esteem concerns, and became EMDR certified to deepen my trauma work. In addition to EMDR, I integrate Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Therapies.

I create a safe and nonjudgmental therapeutic space where clients feel welcomed, supported, and understood. I work collaboratively with clients to process past trauma, navigate present-day challenges, and build practical tools to manage anxiety and emotional distress.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles and moved to San Diego in 2021 to pursue my master’s degree. I fell in love with the city and have enjoyed supporting so many members of the community through therapy. Outside of work, I enjoy exercising, whether that be lifting weights at the gym, taking Pilates classes, or punching a boxing bag. I also enjoy crafting through scrapbooking and crocheting, and making meaningful memories with friends and family.
