About Sara Minter, AMFT

My name is Sara Minter, I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and a queer, cis woman who has called San Diego home for over ten years. My practice is grounded in introspection, humility, and a collectivist worldview. For self-care, I enjoy spending time outdoors, cooking, traveling, and being with my community, family, and my beloved fur baby.

I completed my clinical internship at the Behavioral Health Services of the San Diego LGBTQ Community Center, where my work focused heavily on LGBTQIA+ affirmative care. I also gained experience at an eating disorder treatment clinic, supporting clients through their recovery using trauma-informed and compassion-focused approaches. These experiences deepened my commitment to serving LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized communities, supporting intersectional identities, and approaching therapy through a lens of empathy, awareness, and systemic understanding.

I believe in holistic care that honors the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and I integrate mindfulness practices to help clients reconnect with themselves in grounding and meaningful ways. My specialties and values include eating disorders, intimate partner violence, trauma, couples and relationship work, and LGBTQIA+ affirmative care. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), polyvagal theory, and trauma-informed care to support emotional regulation, resilience, and deeper self-understanding.

I believe each person already holds the key to their own truth—I’m simply here to help you access it. Wherever you are in your story, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I would be honored to be here with you as you move toward healing, self-discovery, and growth.
