About Vivian Mitchell, APCC
My name is Vivian and I’ve been in mental health for about seven years; I use an individually tailored and person-centered approach to help you build the bridge that connects the body and mind. I work with my clients using a bottom-up approach to help regulate the nervous system. Many of my clients find it difficult to receive LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and/or trauma-informed care, and I’m happy to help members of my community thrive through our work. Through the years, I’ve been the type to get to the root cause, and I aim to help my clients practice radical self-compassion, authenticity, and invoke motivation to change.
I’m trained in sensorimotor psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, somatic healing, polyvagal theory, autism and ADHD-focused therapy, play therapy techniques, exposure and stress response prevention, and trauma-informed care. Truly, I think therapy is a journey of helping my clients build the power to shape their own future.
I began my career in mental health as a community college tutor after recovering from a life-changing spinal cord injury in 2013. I went on to publish work in research psychology at UC Irvine. While transitioning from my undergrad at UCI to Penn State, I often found myself working with clients who were deemed “complex”. I believe everyone deserves care, and oftentimes the intersection of trauma, ADHD, ASD, LGBT identities, etc., overlap a bit more often than we think.
